Leaflet Distribution Carbon Offsetting Issues

In our current quest to make Mailbox Nationwide a Leaflet Distribution Company that is as environmentally aware as possible my research into carbon offsetting has made some very interesting reading. Some of the information that I have found suggests that tree planting as the offsetting method can have draw backs and that it is just deferring the issue. Whilst the trees do absorb the CO2 whilst they are growing, once they die they produce large quantities of CO2 as they decompose, this all sounds rather scary !
