Leaflet Distribution Drivers Conduct Fuel Experiment

June 11th, 2008 Posted in Marketing

The leaflet distribution drivers for Mailbox Nationwide have been taking part in an in depth fuel experiment, which has yielded some surprising results.

Making a few small changes in their driving style has made a massive difference in the cost of our fuel bills. All of our trucks now have had limiters installed, making us more efficient on the motorway. The drivers make a conscious effort to change up a gear at 2500rpm, and are always in the highest gear possible. They avoid heavy braking and accelerating by being more aware of their surroundings, and therefore are safer drivers.

In the last month, our average figure for miles per gallon has increased from 25.7 to 31.8mpg. In real terms, this means that we are gaining an extra one hundred miles per tank of fuel. If you multiply that across our fleet, we are making some real savings during a particularly difficult time for fuel!
